Giveaway time again.... Let's go home!

Does anyone remember Bruce Springsteen's song "My Hometown"?  Well, Fat Quarter Shop sent me this awesome kit several weeks ago, and I've been stitching away on it.  With every stitch, that song has come into my mind.  I always loved it anyway!  The name of the fabric is "Hometown" and it's by Sweetwater by Moda.

Okay, enough of that.  They are also going to give another one away.  I mean, we are talking full kit AND the backing.  Every single thing you need to make this kit except your thread and your sewing machine.  Are you interested?  Wanna see what I'm talking about? I just love this pattern!

Here is the backing fabric.  Love, love it!

Fat Quarter Shop was more than generous on this giveaway. This is well over $100.00 worth of merchandise.

If you would like to win this, the first thing you need to do is sing to me...."My Hometown".  Sing loud.  Really loud.  Of course I won't hear you, but hey, I can pretend.  LOL (and I WILL be listening, so don't try to cheat!  LOL)

Seriously, I do think this should be for followers, so you need to be a follower of my blog to enter this one.  Please let me know you are.

For another entry, tell me what hometown means to you.  Is it where you were born, or where you live now? Please tell me on another post.

If you would like another entry, go over to Fat Quarter Shop and pick out your most favorite kit and come back and tell me what it is.

And if you would like once last entry, blog, tweet or facebook about it (counts as only one).

Please make each of these a separate entry, so Mr. Random Generator will count them all. That is four chances to win.  PLEASE, PLEASE let me know how to get in touch with you.  There are still so many "no reply bloggers" out there, and it's so frustrating not being able to let you know you won.

This giveaway will go until midnight CT on October 1 and will be announced here on October 2nd.  Good luck to everyone!

Have a great week full of stitching and sewing and whatever else you love!

I think hometown means where you have the best/most memories - that's how it is for me. I'm from Phillipsburg NJ, where I've lived since I was nine.

My favorite quilt kit from the FQ Shop is the Apple Dumpling kit.
The first random numbers hardly ever win, but I guess someone had to be first, right? :) Oh well, we'll see!

My hometown in Orange,Tx. My favorite thing about it is the Lion's Club Carnival that happens in the fall. It's a local charity carnival. It's a (relatively)cheap night out that helps other in the community. And it's old home week because you see everyone you know. It's good to take my daughter to, and she's a really good rider @ 5!

Okay, I looked up the words to Bruce Springsteen's song "My Hometown" and I sang it to you at the top of my lungs. Granted, it was sung off-key because I can't carry a tune in a bucket. But I sang it for you. I know you're thankful you didn't have to hear it. So - that's my comment. And my next comment is - I'm a follower.

xsgail said...

Even though I live in a different town across the state now, I still love to visit the places I loved while growing up in my hometown. Lots of great memories to look back on.

Deborah in Atlanta said...

My blogger name may be "Deborah in Atlanta", but I'm originally from Augusta, GA, and that's what I call my "hometown". I lived in Augusta from the time I was born until I was 47 years old. But I think "hometown" can mean something different to different people. I imagine it's the location where you have the fondest memories.

For me Hometown is the island I grew up on. I mentally relax just driving over the bridge to get on to it. It doesn't hurt that my parents and some of my closest friends still live there. :D

Mom C said...

I was raised from birth to 18 in the same home then I went away to college, married, moved some and have lived 34 years in my present home. I still get nostalgic about my birthplace. The old home, no longer in the family, is still there and the neighborhood hasn't changed all that much. But I've raised all my children here and they are finally starting to come back. There are great memories, funny stories and great friends.I may not go back as far as my husband but 34 years is quite a long time.

Jennifer Gail said...

I don't know how to answer that because I've never left my hometown. I guess it means don't mess with a good thing in my case:)

Amy said...

After perusing Fat Quarter Shop's site, my favorite kits are twofold: the Apple Dumpling and the Kona Castle kits.

To me hometown is where I grew up. I get warm fuzzy's everytime I go home for a visit. I always wish I could stay longer. My strongest friendships are still in that town.No matter how they change the roads in the town I never get lost. I seem to be lost all the time where I live now.

Jeanne said...

Singing from the top of the hill here at my house in Missouri, good and loud just for you to hear
I was eight years old and running with a dime in my hand
Into the bus stop to pick up a paper for my old man
Id sit on his lap in that big old buick and steer as we drove through town
Hed tousle my hair and say son take a good look around
This is your hometown, this is your hometown
This is your hometown, this is your hometown

In `65 tension was running high at my high school
There was a lot of fights between the black and white
There was nothing you could do
Two cars at a light on a saturday night in the back seat there was a gun
Words were passed in a shotgun blast
Troubled times had come to my hometown
My hometown, my hometown, my hometown

Now main streets whitewashed windows and vacant stores
Seems like there aint nobody wants to come down here no more
They're closing down the textile mill across the railroad tracks
Foreman says these jobs are going boys and they aint coming back to
Your hometown, your hometown, your hometown, your hometown

Last night me and kate we laid in bed talking about getting out
Packing up our bags maybe heading south
Im thirty-five we got a boy of our own now
Last night I sat him up behind the wheel and said son take a good
Look around
This is your hometown

My thoughts on what "hometown" means to many people is where they were raised up at. Another train of thought might be where they lived the longest period of time as an adult. My thought is that you can live anywhere but the place you have lived and loved the most is really "My Hometown" and for me that is Yoder, Wyoming. 29 years ago, deeply in love with my new husband, poor as church mice and we didn't care, we were so happy there. That is "HOME" to me

Jeanne said...

My favorite quilt kit over at the Fat Quarter Shop is "Pieces In Time"

Carolyn I have to confess I didn't sing. I can't remember the words! That seems to be happening to me a lot lately...could have something to do with an upcoming birthday. :( But I did hum a happy tune - will that count? And I'm a follower too so I know that will count! blessings, marlene

StitchinByTheLake said...

My husband and I moved quite a bit in our 47 years of marriage...oh my that's a long time! My oldest daughter was once asked why she said she was going "home" for the weekend when it was to a house she had never lived in (we moved there after she married). Her reply fits the definition of home perfectly: home is where my Mama is and where her stuff is. Don't you love that? blessings, marlene

I think that your hometown is any place that you can make your home.. join the community, feel involved, have great memories... I generally consider the "city" where I live my hometown, but the suburb that I live in is a community in itself and definitely fits the definition. I love where I live, I have a great group of (crafty!) friends, I'm involved in my local community.. <3
