Finally some stitchy things to share with you! ***EDITED to add pictures of Shadow

I received an email from Vonna saying that she received my Christmas ornament from our exchange the other day. Here is what I sent to her:

It is from Homespun Elegance and was such fun to stitch!

Then I received a wonderful exchange from Wendy Jo! This was our Prairie Schooler exchange and I just LOVE everything! She stitched me an adorable scissor fob, which is perfect for me since I collect scissors. :) Here are some pictures:

I mailed my mailart off yesterday and had to go right by the SPCA. Well, uhm.....all I had INTENDED on doing was mailing the mailart, but my car just kinda sorta ended up in the parking lot of the SPCA. We now have a new dog. LOL My DH has been wanting a Golden Retriever forever and I found the most wonderful dog. His name is Shadow, and he's about 9 months old. He was picked up after the Hurricane and his owners were called and didn't want him anymore???? I don't get it, but I'm thankful they didn't. He's trained and wonderful and I've already fallen in love with him. Too bad they didn't want him anymore because I plan to spoil him to death, as we do all of our pets. Abby, our other dog, just turned up her nose, but she has to act that way to keep up her image. LOL She will really like him, but she has to act like she doesn't . That's her personality. Too funny.

I am now totally finished with all of my exchanges except for my monthly Christmas ornament exchange. I now have time to stitch Denise's contest prize and then will be stitching for ME ME ME! I have been pulling out all kinds of things I want to stitch, half of which I forgot I even had.

Speaking of stitching, I think I'll go put a few stitches in before the night is over.

Thank you all for your nice comments and visits and welcome to the new people who have visited and commented. I will try to visit yours, too! I LOVE making new blogging friends. :)

Until next time, be a friend!

Love,
Carolyn :)

Ho Hum....

Well, we are still without electricity. I feel like I live in the stone age. I'm truly trying not to complain, as there are so many that lost their homes, etc. I'm just HOT. The humidity is back and it came back with a vengeance. Get this...the people across the street got their power back on last night. Crud! How hard is it to look out the window and see the other side of the street all lit up and cool? There is more of a problem on our side, so they said they didn't know when we would get it. Encouraging. Yeah buddy......

I've been doing some stitching. Thank goodness I have that to keep my mind off of everything. I can't show you yet, as they were both exchanges, and I will be mailing them this afternoon. As soon as the recipients have received them, I will post pictures. Now I'm working on my very first mailart exchange. I'm muddling along, as I've never done one of these before. It's really intimidated me for some reason. I adore my partner, and I really want her to like it. :)

Well, time to unplug the computer and plug the refrigerator back in. What a hoot.

Love to all, and remember, be a friend!

Hello Dear Blogging Friends

This post will have to be short and sweet as we still are without power due to Ike. My DH hooked me up to the generator for a little bit so I could post and catch up. Had to unplug the refrigerator to do so, so I can't stay on too long.

Most of you know that we were VERY close to where the eye of the storm crossed. Our home is safe, thank God. We have many, many trees down and lost one side of our fence. We have been without power since Friday around 5:00 p.m. and they said it could take up to three weeks. I'm VERY hot and VERY tired from the clean up, but we are alive, and for that we are so thankful. It's very hard to sleep when it's so hot and humid, but it sure has humbled me and shown me to appreciate electricity more. :)

I just had to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you that have called and emailed, texted my cell phone and everything else to check on us. You will never know how much it has meant to me, and there were ALOT of you. It truly shows that you have true friends and people that care. :)

I know I said I would pick a name at the end of the week for the contest. Please forgive me that I will have to wait a few more days. I need to have time to print them off and draw. I know you will understand. I promise the contest WILL be done....just a few days later than I had planned on picking the name.

Also, when I'm able to have more time on the computer, I will upload the pictures we have of the damage. We are so blessed in comparison to those that were in Galveston.

Thank you again, dear ones, that have contacted me in one form or another. I appreciate YOU.

Hugs, much love and of course, be a friend,
Carolyn

Go Away, Ike! Poof, be gone!

Ahhhh the joys of living on the Gulf coast. Seems like I was going through this same thing a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, this hurricane is headed very close to us, and could actually hit us dead on depending on what it decides to do.

In other happier news, I had a wonderful mail day today. Let me share with you. Margaret sent me a lovely pinkeep from the SBEBB Shepherd's Bush exchange. Isn't it gorgeous??? I just love it, but then I'm a huge fan of pinkeeps AND Shepherd's Bush!

Thank you for a WONDERFUL exchange, Margaret! I just love everything!!! :)

Joan let me know that she has received her Shepherd's Bush exchange from me. This is what I sent. It is a kit from SB called "Busy" and I stitched it with the fabric and silks that were provided in the kit. I made it into a cube. I hope she likes it!

Also, Nicki told me that she received the Shepherd's Bush needleroll that she wished for on the Make a Wish Board. This is a horrible picture, but hopefully you can get the idea. It's a kit called "Violet Needleroll", and I stitched it with the enclosed fabric and fibers. I love Shepherd's Bush and ADORE needlerolls. :)

I am now working on Vonna's Christmas ornament and also on my very first mailart exchange. I've been nervous about the mailart since I've never done one. I'm sure it will turn out fine (crossing fingers).

ALERT!! ALERT!!

Time for a giveaway! I said a while back I was going to do one, and it just hasn't happened. If you would like to have something stitched and finished by me, leave a comment on THIS POST and let me know that you would like to be entered. I will draw a name by the end of the week and will announce the winner here. :) If this is successful, I'll be doing it again, soon. I love to stitch for others. :)

A little Kaylabug update: She took her first step! She is so funny! She picks up her little play telephone and says "Oh???? OH???" Shannon says it sounds like "Hello?" Too cute. Kevin called me today. He was taking care of her while Shannon was in class. He said she took her diaper off and uhmm.......well let's just say he was doing a bit of carpet cleaning! I LOVE IT!! The "Mother's Curse" is working!!!

Here is my most recent picture of my little buglet. This is after spending the afternoon at the zoo. :)

Is it just me, or is she cute? LOL I love my little mugwump!!

How do you like my fall look? I'm so proud. I did it all by myself! LOL Time to go stitch. I love you all, and look forward to stitching for someone. Keep all of the Gulf coast in your prayers, and have a good rest of the week. :)

Hugs, love and be a friend,

Carolyn :)
