Weekend Update...

I had a date with Houses of Hawk Run Hollow this weekend. I'm trying so very hard to get motivated to stitch this project, but for some reason, it's just not there. I did make a bit of progress, though. This is how far I got on House #3.

I also did all the finishing on a few exchanges that are due soon. I'll be mailing them off this week, so hopefully I can share pictures of them real soon. I started stitching a new project yesterday. It is the needlebook from Quaker Schoolgirl Needle Necessities. This one is fun to stitch. :)

Tomorrow I'm traveling up to Kevin's college for the annual "Meet the Baseball Players" dinner. I always look forward to this each year. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE watching him play baseball and can't wait for the season to get started. During the season my stitching time suffers, but that's fine. Even though he's 21 years old he's still my baby, and I'd rather watch him play ball than anything else. I'll also get to see Miss Sadie, my granddog. I've sure missed her since she went back to college.

Thanks for stopping by, and as always, I appreciate your kind comments. :)

Brrrrr.....

Boy, it's cold around here! Monday it was 78 degrees and tonight it's 34 and COLD! Perfect weather for me to stay inside and stitch, which is exactly what I've been doing. Tonight I finished Bent Creek's Welcome Knocker. This was a kit and they recommended stitching with three strands of WDW. Yuk! I didn't like that part, but with the fabric that came with the kit, it really needed the three strands, so I plugged along and finished it.

I did do the finishing work on my two January exchanges, so they are ready to send out. I'll share pictures as soon as they are received. I had hoped to get a few of my stitched ornaments finished off, but that didn't happen. Maybe next weekend.

Tonight I started stitching on my bunny exchange that is due in March. I like to get the stitching part done ahead of time "just in case". I hope Chris likes what I chose to stitch for her. :) I think she will! We have alot of the same tastes, so I think I'm safe. :)

I've been in an organizing mood. I get this way in January for some reason. I worked in the computer room a bit today and will continue in there tomorrow. There's lots to do in there, and since I'm in the mood, I need to keep at it. I have a pile of papers to shred - BORING - but it needs to be done.

Well, back to stitching. Thank you for visiting my blog and for your comments. It's obvious I'm new at this, but I'm really enjoying it, and love seeing what others write. Come back soon!

Hugs,
Carolyn :)

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, today is my birthday and so far it's been a wonderful day! One of the gifts my sweet husband got me was an awesome gift certificate from one of my favorite online needlework shops, so I've spent the majority of the day making list after list of things to buy. Oh boy! I've had so many phone calls and emails from my wonderful friends with birthday wishes. Thank you all! It means so much to me. :) This evening after we get back from the annual birthday dinner, I plan to start a new cross stitch project. I always do that every year on my special day. This year I've chosen "Welcome Knocker" by Bent Creek. I can't wait to get home and get started!

I had said I was going to pick up HOHRH on WIP Tuesday, but instead I decided to work on my Snapperville WIP. This one is taking a bit longer than it normally would for me because I'm stitching it over one on 32 count. What was I thinking? I'm not sure why it seems to take longer, but it has. Anyway, here is where I am so far on it.

Becky and I are starting a SAL to try and tackle our HOHRH. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully seeing some progress soon. It always helps to SAL with someone to get the added motivation. It works for me, anyway. :) Motivation is a good thing, right? LOL

Sunday I've designated as "finishing day". I have two exchanges that are due on January 31st, and I can't stand having them not done. I also have a few ornaments that I stitched in December that I'd like to get finished, but it will depend on how my time holds out. Ah...time. Never enough of it, is there? I'm still trying to figure out how I can stitch with my toes so I can have more than one project going at a time. Any suggestions? LOL

Well, back to making my birthday list. There's nothing like buying stash, is there?? LOL

Hugs,
Carolyn :)

Happy New Year about a week late!

Sorry I've been MIA for the past month. I've been working and working trying to figure out how to post pictures and I'm hoping this is going to work. The picture above is my precious Granddog, Miss Sadie. She was a BADDDDD girl yesterday! I turned my back for about five minutes to put some of the Christmas decorations away, and this is what I found. I adore the look on her face. It's as if she's saying "What did I do wrong, Grandma?" Well honeygirl, you didn't do anything wrong in this grandma's eyes! Miss Sadie belongs to my son who will be returning to college at the end of the week. Oh how I will miss this little critter. I'm trying to figure out a way to get grandparent's custody rights! LOL My son is a baseball player (catcher) for the college that he attends, and I won't see her (or him, either, for that matter) until I go up the end of the month for the "Meet the Players" dinner that they host every year. She's growing so fast! She weighed 24 pounds when she got here three weeks ago, and she's up to 34.5 pounds now! I'm sure glad I don't gain weight that fast!
This is my first finish of 2007. Okay, well it's actually NOT my first finish, but it's the first one that I can post a picture of. I have two other finishes, but they are for exchanges that are due the end of the month, so I can't share the pictures of them yet. I will as soon as they have been received, though. This is called "January Wool Whimsy" and it's by HIH. I plan to finish it into a scissor case. It was a quick, fun stitch. I have several other winter and snowmen patterns pulled and kitted up to work on this month. I love snowmen. Living on the coast in Texas, we don't see snow, so I have to stitch it to enjoy it. I'm also working on a Quaker sampler called "Abigail Turner" by Lisa Cowell. I'm really enjoying stitching this one, and plan to get several more of Lisa's charts to add to my "collection".

I've designated Tuesday as "WIP/UFO Tuesday". I plan to only work on one of my WIPS on that day. So tomorrow I will pull out Houses of Hawk Run Hollow and work on House #3. I've also started the 10-25-50 challenge on one of the message boards that I'm a member of. I decided to go with 25. I started this the last week in December, and so far have four finishes. I'm hoping this will motivate me to stitch some of the smaller charts that I have kitted up. Lately it seems I've mainly worked on really large projects, and I'm in the mood for some "smalls".

I thought I would share this picture with you. I stitched this for one of my dearest friends in the whole world for Christmas this year. It's called "Hope Love Joy" and is by SamSarah Designs. I finished it off into a flat fold. I immediately thought of her when I saw this chart, so had to stitch it for her. I hope she likes it. :)

I've signed up for several exchanges so far this year, and I'm going to try to figure out how to list them in the sidebar of this blog thingee. I feel so "challenged" trying to figure all this stuff out. I have so much I want to share if I can figure out how to get it from my mind onto the blog. *crossing fingers for luck*

I think I hear "Abigail Turner" calling my name, so I'm off to stitch on her for awhile.

Happy Stitching!
Carolyn :)
